attended the Guangzhou Huaqiao Buxiao (Guangzhou Supplementary School for Overseas Chinese). This was basically a prep school for Overseas Chinese kids who wanted to get into the Chinese universities. There is one in Beijing and another in Xiamen, Fujian province. At the time I was there 6 years ago, most of the staff, from the principal down to the janitor were overseas Chinese. My history teacher was one of those who were expelled from North Vietnam. His family onced owned vast rubber plantations during French colonial days. He was either 2nd or 3rd generation. The teacher served as an interpreter/liason during the war with America. The PRC sent alot of personnel to help Vietnam. He had interesting stories to tell about the B52 bombing raids. From what I saw, the PRC government gave him a job and a home, which is way more than what the Arab brotherhood has done for their Palestinian brothers. Many countries let the refugees rot in tent cities and live on International aid agency handouts. Even if you hate the CCP/PRC, you must admire the CCP for this one thing, they took good care of the Overseas Chinese when they looked to China for help. While I was there, I also met individuals from the nearby Huaqiao Nongchun (Overseas Chinese farm). Most of the staff at the school were from Indonesia. Everyone knows how "nice" the native Indonesians were to the ethnic Chinese. There were also a couple of Burmese, Thai and Cambodian ethnic Chinese as well among the staff. I never asked them about their story out of fear of appearing to be insensitive and nosy.
Anyone else on this board ever attend this school or the others?
